Nach dem üppigen Frühstück in Trebinje ging es über eine sehr schöne Bergstraße mit einigen Kurven nach Montenegro.
After a luxuriant breakfast in Trebinje, we drove to Montenegro via a very beautiful mountain road with a few bends.
Nach der Grenze ging es mit herrlichen Ausblicken direkt runter zur Bucht von Kontor und danach weiter entlang der Küste zu den Budva-Stränden. Dort war es uns aber ein wenig zu heiß und zudem sehr touristisch. Daher sind wir nach einem kurzen Stopp gleich weiter ins Landesinnere entflohen.
After the border we went straight down to Kontor Bay with great views and then continued along the coast to the Budva beaches. It was a little too hot for us there and also very touristy. Therefore, after a short stop, we fled further inland.
Da es wieder in die Berge ging wurden die Temperaturen angenehmer, die Landschaft bergiger und die Straßen kurviger. Uns wurde immer bewusster, warum Montenegro ein beliebtes Motorradreiseland ist.
As we headed back into the mountains, the temperatures became more pleasant, the landscape more hilly and the roads more winding. We became aware of why Montenegro is a popular motorcycle travel destination.
Als nächstes Ziel hatten wir uns die Stadt Cetinje ausgesucht, welche in früheren Zeiten sogar die Hauptstadt war. Von dort ging es weiter in den Lovren Nationalpark mit der Bergankunft bei dem Mausoleum von Peter II. Dort oben auf ca. 1.660m Höhe hatte wir eine sehr gute Aussicht auf Teile Montenegros.
As our next destination we had chosen the city of Cetinje, which was even the capital in earlier times. From there we continued to the Lovren National Park with the mountain arrival at the mausoleum of Peter II. Up there at an altitude of approx. 1,660m we had a very good view over parts of Montenegro.
Die erste Übernachtung in Montenegro war auf dem Campingplatz „Camp Oaza“ ganz in der Nähe von Cetinje und den Lipa Tropfsteinhöhlen. Einfacher Campingplatz, aber mit einem kleinen Restaurant und herrlicher Aussicht! Die Höhlen haben wir auch gleich am nächsten Morgen besichtigt.
The first overnight stay in Montenegro was at the campsite "Camp Oaza" very close to Cetinje and the Lipa stalactite caves. Simple campsite but with a small restaurant and a great view! We also visited the caves the next morning.
Danach ging es zu einem Höhepunkt, im doppelten Sinne, in den Durmitor Nationalpark. Auf dem Weg dorthin haben wir noch einen Abstecher zu einem der bedeutendsten serbisch-orthodoxen Klöster, Kloster „Ostrog“, eingelegt. Im Nationalpark angekommen, ging es über einen kurvenreichen Anstieg auf das Hochplateau. Oben angekommen wurden wir mit atemberaubenden Aussichten und Landschaften belohnt. Der Nationalpark hat eine Passstraße auf ca. 1.900m Höhe und ist wirklich beeindruckend.
Then it went to a highlight, in two senses, in the Durmitor National Park. On the way there we made a detour to one of the most important Serbian Orthodox monasteries, the Ostrog Monastery. Arrived in the national park, it went over a winding ascent to the high plateau. Once at the top we were rewarded with breathtaking views and landscapes. The national park is located with a pass road at about 1,900m altitude and is really impressive.
Dieses Mal wurde am Fuße des Parks auf noch immer ca. 1.600m gecampt. Am nächsten Morgen ging es durch die Tara-Schlucht, ein weiteres Motorradhighlight, zu der einzigen offenen Grenze in den Kosovo.
This time we camped at the foot of the park at about 1,600m. The next morning, we went through the Tara Gorge, another motorcycle highlight, to the only open border with the neighboring country of Kosovo.
